Work Study Program


Part of the financial aid program is the work assignments which are made available for students on campus. This work study program is administered, supported and budgeted by the Office of the Student Financial Affairs (OSFA). This program benefits the student on one hand, and the University, on the other hand. These benefits are as follows:

 

  1. It provides the student financial support in the form of a financial compensation earned at the end of the worked period.
  2. It also provides work experience and helps develop additional skills for the students.
  3. For the university, it saves the cost of extra employment, displaces hired employment, especially in additional administrative areas.  

 



 

 

 

Eligibility:

1.       Any student applying for this program should be a full-time undergraduate student, with a GPA of not less than 2.00

2.       Undergraduate students receiving full scholarships ( e.g. government scholarship, faculty/staff scholarship. etc). are not eligible to join the program.

3.       Egyptian students, as well as non-Egyptian, are eligible to join the work-study program after the approval of the Director of the Student Financial Affairs.

Application:

1.       Students   should pick up an application form from the OSFA and fill it in. Applications should be renewed every semester.

2.       The application form should be signed by an authorized person in the Dept./Unit of work, then, returned to the OSFA before the deadline date set by the OSFA, otherwise, the application will not be accepted.

3.       Students should submit the application to the person in charge at the OSFA, otherwise, it will not be considered.

4.       No student is allowed to join this program without the approval of the OSFA Director on his/her application.

Compensation:

1.       Students should submit an evaluation sheet, to the OSFA at the end of the work period( maximum of 120 hours during regular semester and 60 hours during the summer session) filled in by the head person at the Dept./Unit where the student worked.

2.       Evaluation sheets should be submitted before the deadline set by the OSFA in order for the student to obtain his/ her compensation in cash if he wants.

3.       The student is paid on hourly rate basis of 10.00 L.E.

4.       Evaluation sheets should be delivered to the OSFA.

5.       The student is compensated through a budget allocated under the OSFA.

6.       The compensation money will be either credited to the students’ account as a deducted amount from the same or the following semester or given to him/ her as a cash amount upon his/ her request.

In general, any student under the work study program is required to handle basic office work such as typing, using computer, filing, handling phone calls, shelving, scheduling appointments if required…etc. However, the type of work the student is required to accomplish may differ from one department to another according to the duties performed by each department.
