Although the American University in Cairo is a private university that depends on tuition and contributions as major sources of income in order to operate, it strives to provide financial assistance to all degree-seeking students who demonstrate serious financial insufficiency and/or outstanding academic performance.

The university offers a wide range of programs in the form of grants, scholarships, work assignments and others mainly to help students meet their educational expenses and/or encourage outstanding students to further succeed.
